“Don’t Call It a Comeback” — Kai Greene Fuels Speculation of Bodybuilding Return, Lands in Pittsburgh

Men’s Open powerhouse Kai Greene has ignited speculation about a potential return to competitive bodybuilding. On February 21, 2025, the three-time Arnold Classic champion shared a cryptic Instagram reel, emphasizing that he never officially retired from the sport.

The video captured Greene arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport from New York, sending shockwaves through the bodybuilding community. While he refrained from outright confirming his participation in the prestigious New York Pro or Pittsburgh Pro, many fans and analysts believe his presence hints at a return to the competitive stage.

During his illustrious career, Greene was one of the few athletes who consistently pushed seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath to the limit. Their rivalry remains one of the most storied and intense in bodybuilding history. Although he never claimed the coveted Sandow trophy, Greene left an indelible mark on the sport, securing three Arnold Classic titles (2009, 2010, 2016) and defeating titans of the Open division, including the late Shawn Rhoden, Dexter Jackson, and four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler.

Greene’s last competition appearance was in 2016, where he dominated the field en route to victory at the Arnold Classic South America. Nearly a decade later, fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of ‘The Predator’ returning to battle against the sport’s elite.

Kai Greene Hints at 2025 Pittsburgh Pro Comeback, Stands Firm on Never Retiring

In his latest Instagram reel, Greene reinforced that he never stepped away from the sport entirely, leaving the door open for a long-awaited comeback.

“When I get up in the morning, it’s because I have hope. I’m capable of creating the realities that I ask for and am willing to work for. Honestly, I never retired,” he explained. “I’m inspired to get up in the gym these days, doing it is an expression of hope and I feel very very optimistic about tomorrow. I would want to win. I would want to win,” states Kai Greene.

“!!! Don’t call it a comeback !!!” Greene shared.

This isn’t the first time Greene has teased a return to the IFBB Pro League stage. In a 2023 interview with industry veteran Ron Harris, he expressed an openness to competing again, stating, ‘I would never want to say never’ regarding another campaign under the bright lights of professional bodybuilding.

If Greene does indeed throw his hat into the ring for the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro, he’ll face a stacked lineup featuring modern-day mass monsters like Nick Walker, Martin Fitzwater, and Michal Križanek. The marquee event is slated for May 10-11 in Pittsburgh and is expected to draw an elite field of competitors vying for top honors.

As of now, Greene has yet to officially confirm his contest plans. However, should he make an announcement, Fitness Volt will provide the latest updates on this developing story.
